A number of children in their adolescence dread the breakout of pimples and acne that can make their face look ugly. Earlier, it was believed that acne skin condition affects only the teenage population. But, the truth is that more than 40% of people fall prey to acne formation only after the age of 25, owing to many factors, especially their poor eating habits. The only way to attain permanent relief from this skin ailment is by moving over to a healthier living style and following a diet to clear acne.

A decade ago, researchers couldn't establish the relation between food habits and the incidence of acne skin infections. However, with the passage of time and the efforts of the research scientists and the developments in the field of science and technology, scientific studies have revealed that the food we eat does have an effect on the health of the skin and cause acne formation.

Skin specialists are in agreement with the fact that consuming the right type of foods can keep this problem in check. Adopting the right diet to clear acne is as important as selecting the best anti acne creams to rid the face of the blemishes.

Our routine diet mostly consists of white bread, fried snacks and chicken and cereals apart from soda and other aerated beverages. All these kinds of foodstuff merely provides energy but are lacking in vital nutrients such as anti-oxidants and vitamins. These foods rank high on the glycemic index as they trigger a sudden increase in the sugar levels in the body.

To stabilize the blood sugar content, pancreas will secrete surplus quantities of the insulin hormone. Increased hormone activity in your body is one of the major triggers for the over activity of the skin oil glands resulting in excess sebum production. While sebum in optimum levels is beneficial because it eliminates the dead cells and flushes out toxins, excessive production often leads to blockage in the follicles which leads to acne.

In the present day, we excessively indulge in junk foods that do not contribute to the nourishment of the cells in the body. We forget to intake fruits and vegetables which are the most critical for good health and young-looking skin. These foods provide the body with antioxidants and vitamins that are very essential. The lack of these nutrients could also cause acne formation because toxins start accumulating within the body.

Foods with low glycemic index are an integral part of the best diet to clear acne. These foods keep the sugar levels in check and hence control the insulin secretion from the pancreas. This helps in the maintaining optimum levels of sebum in the body, thereby preventing the acne formation.

Adhering strictly to the diet to clear acne, besides washing the face on a regular basis and using the right anti acne cream, will surely impact your skin positively. It will get rid of the dead cells and impurities thus preventing the chances of acne infections.
